The Thirteenth Day of October
- St.. Edward, King of England and Confessor, who died on January 5, but is chiefly
commemorated on this day, on which his body was translated.
- At Troas, a city of Asia Minor, the birthday of St. Carpus, a disciple of blessed Paul the
Apostle.
- At Cordova in Spain, the birthday of the holy martyrs Faustus, Januarius and Martial, who
were first tortured on the rack, then had their eyebrows shaved off, their teeth torn out and
their ears and noses cut off and finally consummated martyrdom by the torture of fire.
- At Thessalonica, St. Florentius, Martyr, who after various torments was burnt with fire.
- At Stockherau in Austria, St. Colman, Martyr.
- At Antioch, St. Theophilus, Bishop, who filled the see of that Church sixth after blessed Peter
the Apostle.
- At Tours in France, St. Venantius, Abbot and Confessor.
- At Subiaco in Lazio, St. Chelidonia, Virgin.
And elsewhere many other holy martyrs, confessors and holy virgins. Thanks be to God.
